What is Ultrasonic Testing?

Ultrasonic Testing is a non-destructive diagnostic technique that allows for the analysis of a material’s internal structure without damaging it. This method is based on the use of ultrasonic waves, which are generated by a transducer and transmitted through the tested material.

During the examination, the ultrasonic wave travels through the material and encounters various defects, such as cracks, inclusions, or corrosion. At the points where the wave meets these flaws, part of its energy is reflected or scattered. These changes in the ultrasonic wave are captured by a second transducer acting as a receiver.
